“Fresh design – always!”

Michele Trout personifies the clean, crisp and casual aesthetic she so enthusiastically espouses for her clients. A native Angelina, Michele is predisposed to see design through the lens of blue seas and skies, of red and orange sunrises and sunsets, of the tans of sandy beaches, and of the ivories of bleached woods and seashells. With her trained eye, Michele can envision transformations of even the most neglected spaces into personalized and relaxing havens, reflecting how her clients want to live, surrounded by fresh Southern California beauty.

Within the comprehensive Bonesteel Trout Hall Design practice, Michele takes a particular interest in the architecture and construction aspects of each process. Michele dives in side-by-side with the architect and builders from the beginning of the design transformation, collaborating on interior structural solutions essential to the value and integrity of the project. During the initial demolition or construction, Michele works with her clients to match their lifestyle needs and personal tastes with an overall design concept and palette of colors and textures to fit the decorating budget. Michele charts a cohesive path through the labyrinth of fabrics, furniture, floor, wall, and window covering options available globally and at all price points. Ultimately, she will integrate and oversee the installation of all these elements to create beautiful and supremely livable results, brought alive with fresh creativity and attention to detail.

Michele’s design sensibilities developed when she moved to Europe after receiving her Bachelor of Arts from Pepperdine. Traveling through France, England and Germany, she embraced the tradition and beauty that permeated the architecture and furnishings around her. The lines, the spaces, the art and energy of this historical immersion inform her easy Southern Californian elegance, and influence her professional taste and appreciation of quality to this day. Michele pursued her Interior and Environment Design Certificate at UCLA and in 2002 joined former classmate, Heidi Bonesteel, and Jill Hall at Hannah Gordon Design. Sharing entrepreneurial zeal, the three joined forces to form Bonesteel Trout Hall in 2004.

The firm creates fresh Southern California beauty in all its work. This attitude, paired with its founders’ expert education and business acumen, make Bonesteel Trout Hall a much sought after interior design firm, regardless of client geography. With over twenty years experience, the firm’s prodigious body of creative work has been recognized by myriad national and regional publications including Architectural Digest, Coastal Living, House Beautiful, Interiors, Luxe, and California Home Design, as well as numerous websites and blogs. Most recently, the firm is the 2013 winner of the Pacific Design Center’s Stars on the Rise Award as well as the 2012 recipient of Traditional Home’s prestigious New Traditionals Award. Michele lives in Pacific Palisades with her husband and two children, where they enjoy hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains and entertaining outdoors. They also enjoy spending time in Sun Valley.
